Comments

SlapPortal bridges comments between your Portal and Notion, so all communication stays on the page it belongs to.

How it works

Comments are two-way: they can be posted from the portal or from Notion, and are kept in sync in both directions at all times.

Comments are enabled or disabled per tab. You configure this in Admin > Tabs > [your tab] > Permissions > Comments.

On the portal side:

Users see all comments on a record - both those posted by portal users and those posted by Notion users. Each comment displays the name or email of the person who wrote it.

On the Notion side:

Comments posted from the portal appear as Notion comments from the SlapPortal integration. At the end of each comment, a note indicates who sent it and when - for example: Sent by user@example.com on 3 Mar 2026 at 14:32.

Internal comments

Any comment that starts with # is treated as internal. Internal comments are visible in Notion but never shown to portal users.

Use this to discuss a record internally, tag your team, or add context - without the portal user seeing it.

Example:

  • #Simon - can you check this one? The client is asking about a refund. - visible in Notion only
  • Hi, your request is being processed. - visible to the portal user
